"Moreover, you scorned our people, and compared the Albanese to sheep, and according to your custom think of us with insults. Nor have you shown yourself to have any knowledge of my race. Our elders were Epirotes, where this Pirro came from, whose force could scarcely support the Romans. This Pirro, who Taranto and many other places of Italy held back with armies. I do not have to speak for the Epiroti. They are very much stronger men than your Tarantini, a species of wet men who are born only to fish. If you want to say that Albania is part of Macedonia I would concede that a lot more of our ancestors were nobles who went as far as India under Alexander the Great and defeated all those peoples with incredible difficulty. From those men come these who you called sheep. But the nature of things is not changed. Why do your men run away in the faces of sheep?"
Letter from Skanderbeg to the Prince of Taranto ▬ Skanderbeg, October 31 1460

The Mask of Anarchy..

Post by Arban Blandi » Sat Jan 22, 2011 11:51 pm

Selected verses from The Mask of Anarchy by Percy Bysshe Shelley. It was written after
the Peterloo massacre carried out by the British government in Manchester in 1819
against people who had gathered to demand the reform of parliamentary representation.

[col]This is slavery - savage men
Or wild beasts within a den
Would endure not as ye do
But such ills they never knew.

What art thou Freedom? O! could slaves
Answer from their living graves
This demand - tyrants would flee
Like a dreams dim imagery:

Let a great Assembly be
Of the fearless and the free
On some spot of the ground
Where the plains stretch wide around.

Let the blue sky overhead,
The green earth on which ye tread,
All that must eternal be
Witness the solemnity.|Ye who suffer woes untold,
Or to feel, or to behold
Your lost country bought and sold
With a price of blood and gold –

Let a vast assembly be,
And with great solemnity
Declare with measured words that ye.

Are, as God has made ye, free
And these words shall then become
Like Oppression's thundered doom
Ringing through each heart and brain,
Heard again - again - again.

Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number -
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you
Ye are many - they are few.[/col]

Poeme e fuqishme dhe shume aktuale per ne.
"Du t'jem zot, n'timen tok,
dje dhe sot, sot e neser."
