Këtu po e hapim këtë temë për t'i grumbulluar materialet që dëshmojnë se shqiptarët si komb janë konsoliduar para shekullit XIX ose edhe vetë Europa i ka përceptuar shqiptarët si komb shumë më herët se shekulli i XIX. Vetë defterët otoman shqiptarët i kategorizonin si 'kavim' dmth komb.
