. . . "Tradicionalistet", pra ata qe vazhdimisht dhe pa kufi, interpretojne zbulimet arkeologjike ne mbeshtetje te plote te vertetesise globale te shkrimeve te hershme(ancient), mund te ndihen keq nga kjo, por edhe ne fushen e historise, nje perballje me te verteten eshte me e keshillueshme.

R. Ross Holloway— 1995, - AIA(Archaeological Institute of America) - Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Archaeological Achievement.

Holloway's recognition of the significance of traditionally underappreciated indigenous cultures within the wider milieu of trans-italian and trans-Mediterranean contacthas provided a framework within which many later studies have been situated.
Today, such thinking is central to innumerable discussions of economic, demographic and social complexity of the Mediterranean.

Me rastin e nje vjetorit te ndarjes nga jeta te arkeologut te shquar R. Ross Holloway, ne "American Journal of Archaeology, April 2023 " eshte botuar nekrologjia nga e cila kam shkeputur pak rreshta.

Arkeologu i shquar R. Ross Holloway(1934-2022) vleresoi si shume te rendesishme peshen e kulturave vendase [ ishin shume kultura vendase, jo vetem Roma] ne teresine e meredhenies nder-Italike dhe nder-Mesdhetare. Pesha e kulturave vendase -"indigenous"- me pare ishte nenvleresuar.
Menyra e te menduarit te Holloway, sot, eshte ne qender te trajtimit te situatave komplekse ne Mesdhe. Perdorimi, se fundmi, kudo, i kesaj qasje, nxjerr ne pah ndikimin e thelle dhe revolucionarizues te saj.

Arkeologjia e periudhës së lashtësisë së Romës dhe Latium

Pozicioni gjeografik i Romës, buzë lumit Tiber, i dha asaj zhvillimin.

Fenikasit dhe greket, filluan të praktikonin transportin lumor nëpër Tiber për të tregtuar mallrat e tyre në brendësi te vendit(jo vetëm në bregdet).
Kjo tregti lumore nëpër Tiber bëri që në Romë të arrijnë mallra, gjuhë dhe popuj të huaj. Nxjerrja ne pah e këtij aktiviteti (tregtar lumor) dhe e pasojave te tij eshte dhurate nga arkeologjia per njohjen e periudhës së lashtësisë së Romës, dhuratë, sepse në analet e historisë ky aktivitet(tregtia lumore) nuk përmendet vec paksa tek "Tarquin Dynasty" dhe fare pak flitet per të në historinë e kulteve të huaj (Hercules dhe Apollo) pranë bregut të lumit(Tiber).

Në shek. e 8-të para Krishtit, ishulli Ischia ishte vendi ku tregtaret fenikas, greke dhe te tjere nga vendet e tjera të lindjes, kishin strehën e
përbashkët.
Në shek. e 8-të para Krishtit trafiku lumor në Tiber ndryshoi dhe bashkë me trafikun ndryshoi edhe Roma.
Te dhenat arkeologjike tregojnë që në shek. e 7-të para Krishtit tregtaret e huaj jetonin në Romë dhe Latium.

"Hercules" ishte me të parët kulte te huaj që u pranuan në Romë. Ky kult, me qender te vendosur tek tregu dhe prane "Lumit Tiber", i sjelle aty nga tregtaret fenikas, u perqafua nga tregtaret.
