Ne nje pasazh gjeografi i mirenjohur Strabon kur shkruan per Dardanet niset nga paragjykime te thella, se gjoja ata ishin 'te eger' e jetonin nen 'plehra' qe ma merr mendja se jane te kushtezuara nga propaganda e asokohshme romake e cila dardanet i kishte armiq te perbetuar. Aleksander Stipceviq ne kunderpergjigje ndaj paragjykimit se 'dardanet laheshin vetem tri here ne jete' thote se kjo nuk ishte shenje e Dardaneve, por me shume e klerikeve te ndryshem te cilet kishin zakone te tjera higjienike. Ndersa, Aristidh Kola thote se nje shprehje e tille eshte perftuar nga fakti qe Dardanet kane qene metalurge te degjuar, dhe se kjo ka kushtezuar ne higjienen e tyre. Megjithate, sic isha duke thene Straboni bie ne kunderthenie me veten kur thote se:
